It operates its business through four segments: Rechargeable Battery & Other Products, Mobile Handset Components & Assembly Service, Automobiles & Related Products, and Other. The Rechargeable Battery & Other Products segment manufactures and sells lithium-ion and nickel batteries principally for mobile phones, electric tool, and other portable electronic instruments and new energy products. The Mobile Handset Components & Assembly Service segment engages in the manufacture and sale of mobile handset components such as housing, keypads and provision of assembly services. The Automobiles & Related Products segment engages in the manufacture and sale of automobiles and auto-related moulds and components. The Other segment comprises of non-manufacturing business of the company. The company was founded on February 10, 1995 and is headquartered in Shenzhen, China.

TNE is one of Australia’s largest publicly listed software companies and has been rated A1 for 5 of the past 10 years. Aside from a slide to A4 in 2007, the company has maintained a consistently high Skaffold Score of A1 or A2.

This week we sat down and had a chat with Roger Montgomery and Russell Muldoon, two of Skaffold’s founders. BKL has been rated A1 by Skaffold for 8 of the past 10 years. It’s a great Australian healthcare business that should remain on any serious investor’s watch list.

Unlike railroads, airlines or any other businesses that generate income from physical assets, online businesses have minimal need to invest in expensive plant and equipment. There is no need for warehouses or manufacturing plants. Inventory is not required and whilst servers cost money and websites require maintenance, those costs are nothing compared to maintaining a toll road or servicing a nations’ communications network.
